Welcome to our developer contributions database!

This website will update daily.

Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)

CIL is a levy on certain types of development in Brighton and Hove, as set out in the charging schedule of Brighton and Hove City Council.  The money collected is then used to help fund various types of infrastructure in our City, and beyond, which is needed to support new development.  The Brighton and Hove City Council CIL Charging Schedule was made effective from 05 October 2020.  Please note, CIL, is triggered by commencement of a planning permission, which is CIL liable; in some cases, payments may be made by instalment in accordance with the adopted Instalment Policy.

*CIL data also provides an option to view or search per ward; you must first select the option from the left hand ward button.

Section 106 (S106)

Planning obligations under Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, commonly known as S106 legal agreements, make a development proposal acceptable in planning terms that would not be acceptable otherwise. Section 106 planning obligations are typically split between two categories: financial obligations (also known as developer contributions) and non-financial obligations.

The data available covers the details of Section 106 legal agreements from the 1 January 1996 to now.

Note: This also includes Section 106 legal agreements for both Brighton Borough Council and Hove Borough Council before Brighton and Hove merged into a unitary authority in 1997 and was granted City status in 2001.
